Check out that blue sky. Most of the leaves either have fallen or blown off of the sweet gum in the back. I love the lighting this time of year. The air gets crisper and the shadows get longer. I love Fall.
You know... some mornings are just difficult. I had planned to get a few extra hours in this week. I got 4-5 extra last week. This morning I get 25 minutes into my 30 minute trip into work only then to realize that I had forgotten the boss's ladder. Doh... so, I got to work at 10:20, only an hour later than I had planned on getting in. I picked up sugar for my coffee while I was at home though. I had run completely out. Thats what happens when coffee-drinking subcontractors come hang out/work.
I went fishing for about 45 minutes last night. I kept loosing bait. No one else was out there. I thought maybe other people knew that chilly weather made fish not bite but I got more hits on my line than I normally do when its warm.
This morning, I'm listening to Glenn Beck and oven-soldering some diode bases. Oven-soldering is a pain and its very time consuming.

Jenny got back into town late Friday night. I was upstairs working on the computer when she came in and I went downstairs to welcome all of them home. As I walked in front of the girls car seats which were parked on the floor next to the stairs, Emma looked up at me and she must have grinned for 5 minutes. Kate either was still really sleepy or just didn't care as much because she didn't smile at me for a while. Nice to be appreciated and recognized.
She brought a tv from her dad's. From what I gather its a '91 Sanyo to replace our less than crisp dumpster find that we are currently using. I was pretty excited. I hooked it up and evidently on the way from Tally to Bluffton, a bump or two caused the steering coils to shift and if you watch espn or another channel with straight lines crossing the screen, it is very evident that the screen is slanted. Kind of strange, but the picture is definately better regardless of the slant. Maybe I can bump it back into being straight.
Saturday, we went to Statesboro to see my family. Caroline had been at some artsy class making glass beads. Sorry, I may be threatening my man card here, but anything requiring the use of a propane torch is cool, including making jewelry. Argh, argh, argh. (Tim the Toolman Taylor bark to Caroline) My mom and Anna had been up at school making backdrop props for a play. My dad got a new toy within the last week. He got a
LaserZ TurfRanger. I spent about an hour "mowing the grass" or playing around to be exact. The thing is a major player and could probably EAT the mowers the pro's use here on Hilton Head.
Sunday, we went to church and completed the difficult task of holding 6 month olds through church. It is getting more and more difficult. We ate lunch at the Miles' house. I went to officer training, night church, and then we went home.
And here it is Monday again... I hate Mondays.

Last Night Emma decided she wanted to help make her peas. Don't worry the blender was not even plugged in. She kept looking in at the shinny blades at the bottom and squealing. Guess she is going to like the blender as much as mom. When does she get to try fruity frozen drinks?
Its been a little chilly here in Florida in the mornings so this morning we got to try out our coats before heading out. Kate is showing off for everyone. They fit great. Still size 0-3 months.

Last night was interesting if not fun. I left work frustrated and frazzled after attempting to ship a package to Romania and failing. I went to a gas station in Bluffton to get bait. Officer Whitaker (our neighbor) was there on duty and was waiting on the clerk. We got to talk a little. I told him of my plans to go fishing and where. I went home and changed clothes and got the fishing pole and let Nevy out to run in the yard. Then I went down to the water and he was there in his cruiser. Normally, it would be a little freaky to have a cop following you around. I fished for a while. Probably a little late, I'll have to look that up later. The sunset was awesome. When I got home, I took the grinder to my exhaust system. I ground the bolts holding my muffler to the tailpipes off. Rust had joined the muffler pipe to the tailpipe so I had to peel the metal away. It only took me an hour and I was very happy with my results.

This is the weekend before Jenny and the girls go to Tallahassee for the week. I hate it when they leave but to keep busy, I think I'm going to try to use the time wisely doing things that require the computer, Word, and the internet. I may do some fishing from the Calhoun Street pier, too. I need to invest in some ~15lb test, leaders, and some shrimp heads. I take the poor man's way of "cutting bait." If I go every night, maybe I'll catch something before the girls get home.
Jenny is on call this weekend so I may get to do some geocaching up near Ridgeland. There is one guy up there who likes hiding things in the woods with his GPS. Other than that, I don't think we have a whole lot planned for the weekend.

Update for everyone interested. Emma did great. She did pretty much everything they wanted her to. Somethings, like talking, babies just don't do on command. We spent the morning running errands in Savannah and then headed home. Now all of our doctor appointments are over till next month when Kate gets to be health department baby... getting something in return for all our tax money.
Well, not much going on today. My mother escorted Jenny to an appointment that Emma had. Its her job to keep Kate occupied and Jenny company. Its a free appointment paid for us by the taxpayers of GA (yes, we do live in SC) to determine whether Emma is on track developmentally. I can't really imagine parents who would have a premature baby or any baby for that matter and not wonder how there child is doing developmentally. Jenny monitors these things closely and can tell you how many weeks Emma is behind Kate and other things like that. I'd monitor things too but she just does it better and I don't have to.
Last night we had spaghetti and watched NCIS. Emma got 4 shots yesterday so she was feeling a little under the weather. She looked fine this morning though. I hope that she doesn't act or feel a little slow today for her grade...
It was misting when I left the house and its foggy at the airport next to the building that I work. I'd hate to have to fly into Hilton Head this morning. You'd get all wet.

We love playing on the floor. The quilt off of our bed has been acquired by the girls to play on in the living room. Guess we'll have to come up with something different once it gets colder around here.

Another quiz for everyone out their... guess who's who. James couldn't even figure it out.
For a change this past weekend I did not see any patients and instead we played and slept in. I don't know how we managed it, but we are probably the only parents of infant twins that get to sleep in till 10am on Saturdays. Once we all got up we piddled and then headed up to the Beaufort Shrimp Festival where they were supposed to have free shrimp tasting. We searched for the free stuff but found no free shrimps to eat only a free chick-fil-a thingy and a bumper sticker. False advertising if you ask me. We did manage to get a Christmas present so that made it a worth while trip. James also found a new rock wall that we hope to someday get to climb... have to get it passed through the budget first. Saturday evening James tried his hand at crabbing using two little crab nets off of a public pier (you can crab and fish off of land without needing a fishing license). He was unsuccessful this trip but sounds as if he is not giving up so easily. He did managed to catch a dog fish in his net but was so alarmed by its ugly appearance that he let it get away. So coming home with no dinner we had leftovers. Maybe next Saturday we will have fresh crab.

Saw something pretty cool this morning. It is raining here and I saw two pods of pelicans lifting off from a large power pole. One of those made of structural steel that looks like a giant. I never really thought of pelicans as perching creatures. It got me to thinking that Hilton Head only feels like a sea island when its raining. Part of it is just the fact that I'm here every day. Part of it is there is no real industry to speak of. Every time I visit Brunswick, I'm immediately struck by the fact that its a port and that makes it very cool. I guess another reason it strikes me that way is I have fond memories of my granddad taking me to the docks where he was engineering a tug. Things only captured in the minds eye. Amazing what a group of pelicans conjures up...

Saturday, the girls and I went on call with Jenny. While she went into a patients house, we "stayed in the car." Jenny thought that meant we were going to sit there and listen to the radio and whatnot. I got bored and decided to go take a picture of this bus. We also toured the city of Gifford, SC. Gifford has this post office... and well, it gives federal buildings a bad name. I mean its a trailer the age of something you would see in the Dukes of Hazzard.

After Jenny got through with her visit, we headed down to Savannah. Jenny wanted to go to the Junior League thrift sale. We got the girls a number of sets of shoes and a few dresses and I got a PCI ATA board. I may have to expand to a tower case. That would bring the total up to 8 IDE devices after all. We went to River Street too. Octoberfest was going on. Unfortunately, we missed the weiner dog races by a couple of hours. There was a German-style band all dressed in their lederhosen and dancers in the same garb. Not my cup of tea. The artizans were out en masse as were the spiffy hotrods. The ship in the center is the USS Cole. She is patched up and good as new. I met a sailor stationed to her and he said that not many aboard where on it when it was bombed on October 12, 2000. I guess that was 5 years to patch her up and get her a new paint job.

Before we left River Street, I got a Guinness passed through the budgetery committee. It was quite good contrary to what one would think about a hot day and a thick, dark brew. Emma was facinated by either what I was drinking, the fact that I could drink it, or just the plastic cup. Regardless, she wanted to taste it. Kate on the other hand, was only semi-interested in what Emma had.

I went to my first Mothers of Twin meeting tonight on Hilton Head. It was good to meet other mom's raising twins, though sadly a lot of them seemed to like to complain about their children and the wearyness of raising them. I know it might not be the easiest thing I've ever done, but I am not to a complaining point yet. It made me realize that we have been blessed with very easy going kids... as long as dinner is on time and we get our naps everyone is all smiles. I will never know why God thought we needed twins, but I am very grateful that he did.
