Hello from the road. For some reason blogging came up in conversation. We have a new road game... spot the alien. Thats what we learned on PBS last night. Yes, South Carolina likes to talk about aliens. Not the illegal type either. And according to "ETV" (yes, that is the name of South Carolina's public television), roadways are the best places to spot aliens. We could segway into a wise use of taxpayer dollars here. So far, we spotted not just one or two aliens, but two whole alien species. This is a little more challenging of a game than my cows and it gives us a way to poke fun at public TV!!

We have a new favorite snack... oreos. James has been holding these pictures hostage for a while, but I finally go them so that you can all remember just how good an oreo tastes.

Looking at them you won't be surprised when I tell you that we don't get these very often. By the time they finished one half of one oreo it was all over them head to toe and all over the stroller. Maybe next time we'll try them while sitting in the bathtub for easier clean up.

This weekend was a lot more restful than last weekend.  Friday night we watched a little TV and I studied for an hour before we went to bed.

Saturday, I slept in a little and then got up for a sales presentation for a water filtration company that was supposed to do tests on our water.  We turned them down although I think its something that we would like to do eventually.  When we can drop 6K on a water filter.

We wanted to do something Saturday that was kind of off the beaten path.  I think we succeeded.  We decided that we wanted to go to a state park or something similar.  Here in Columbia, we have a few state parks but we also have a couple of national parks/forests.  We chose to save Congaree National Park for later weekends and went to Harbison State Forest instead.  Harbison has tons of trails inside its thousand plus acres.  We chose a very short trail mainly because it was close to nap time (the girls' nap time) and we didn't know how they would do.  We had a lot of fun and didn't see a single snake.

This weekend is a long weekend with the Fourth holiday and all.  We are trying to head out of town on the 29th and I have Friday and Monday off. We are going down to Tallahassee for some long needed R&R.

The time has come to pull a book of the shelf that we have had for a while, Dare to Discipline by James Dobson. Oh but they are sweet angels you say... huh I beg to differ. Lately the majority of the food in our meals is ending up the floor partly because it is fun to watch it fall and partly because we love the reaction that it gets from Mom. This is only one of the many small battles that they start daily. Overall I must say they mind fairly well, but I think when it comes to food they have found our weakness. We want them to eat food so badly that we have been willing to sit there and tolerate a lot of bad habits and acting up. Enough, I'm putting my foot down. I refuse to mop the kitchen floor daily.

Its been a while since we have posted on the girls. We just got back from a week at Hilton Head with the Martin crew. The girls started off very scared and would not even touch the sand only clung to mom and dad, by the end of the week they were having a wonderful time as long as they didn't get in the water. We'll learn to like water another trip at least we like the beach for now.

See if you can tell who is who. No need to ask us for the answer cause we don't know.

This was mud night at the beach. Someone had dug a small shallow hole and filled it with water. It became a play spot for the girls as long as they were on the sand reaching in to play. They both were covered in sand and mud from head to toe by the time we headed back.

This is a classic Emma pose. She waits like this until you come and flip her over like a sommersault. If only she realized that had we come and fliped her she would have landed lying in the water hole. I don't think that would have been enjoyed very much. Posted by Picasa

The girls seem to be doing a lot better this evening. They had fevers up to 104.7 on Sunday ad Monday but are now down in the 99 range which is very normal and no concern. Their energy is up and they are back to their usual selves running around the room saying ah ah ah over and over again at the top of the lungs. Something about rooms that echo... very fun. Maybe that's whats wrong with adults we have lost the ability to be amused by the simple things like an echoes an bubbles. The doctor says it will take them a little while to be back to full speed but I'd say after chasing them all night at a twins club meeting (where kids don't normally go) that they are going fast enough for me. The other mom's thought they were great fun, though mostly I got lots of "their so small" type comments. I thought if anywhere, the twins meeting would be the one place where petite kids fit in. Oh, well.

We had a long and relaxing weekend until last night.  Friday, I guess was the start of the weekend and Jenny brought the girls and we had lunch at Finlay Park.  It started raining at the tail end and rained until later that night.

Saturday, we woke up early and went to the Riverbanks Zoo.  I think Kate still likes Petsmart better.  By getting there early, we tend to get a better look at the animals and its not nearly as hot.  We usually spend an hour there anyway, but the hour is more enjoyable if its still cool.  Also, something to note is the animals seem to have more character early.  The wallabys were really active where in the afternoon they are usually lazing around. The elephants weren't up yet.  The zebras were their normal elusive selves.  And the ostriches were eating pinestraw by the bale.  Later in the morning we went to Lowes and bought a whole lot of new light fixtures.  Just another purchase of projects for the house.  They had a good rebate at Lowes on fans this weekend. We didn't get the really good deal because they'd already sold out.  Jenny wanted a fan for our room that had a remote... those cost money though.  Maybe after we make our first million.

Sunday, we went to Covenant in the morning. Emma slept through the service.  Kate had to go to the nursery about halfway through.  They both had temperatures after church.  Jenny just assumed it was teeth.  We decided to go to the Pooler Pres particularization service.  So, to conserve gas, we took the Camry down.  It took two and a half hours to get down there.  We hung out with some old friends beforehand and afterward.  Good service.  It was really great to see our old church family.  We haven't quite gotten as close to our new church family quite yet.  When we got home, Kate was running a high fever and Emma's was cleared up.  We debated taking Kate to the ER.  The fever came down with some tylenol (note: NOT ibuprofen, we don't like ibuprofen) and a cool bath.  They have an appointment this morning to find out whats wrong.  Good day to all.
