Hello from sunny Statesboro! We have been traveling the southeast this week and have come for the rest of the week to be with the Martin's. Emma had her 2 year developmental clinic appointment this morning. This a grant funded clinic for babies that were born premature with problems (in Emma's case it was just being really small for her gestational age). Today's visit was a 1.5 hr test with a therapist. We brought Kate along for moral support since Emma is used to her company all time. In terms of Emma, she was on a roll today she didn't get quiet or shy and was very talkative to the lady, she actually started to walk back with her from the waiting room leaving the rest of us to gather up the stuff. She was able to do most everything the test asked of her. A few things were a bit to tricky but they weren't really for her age level either. The therapist at the end said that she had done great for her age level and had performed most things on a 33-48 month age level. GO EMMA!! Way to show them that being small isn't a bad thing! We know that her speech is slow but it rapidly developing lately and no one is worried about it. She has officially graduated from the program and was told that there is no need to return to the clinic!!
(Kate also was able to do everything Emma could do as she would play with puzzle after Emma would, she did really well realizing that it was about Emma this morning and for once Kate would stand back and let Emma answer the questions and do the talking. It does mean that they are both on the 33-48 month level though since they can both do it together!! Proves to everyone that laughed at me that teaching a 2 year old shapes and the alphabet isn't a bad thing!)
