We are in Tallahassee for the weekend.  Jenny's dad wanted me to go fishing so we had planned to take Friday and extend the extended weekend.  On the way down, we made a sanity break at a rest stop south of Macon.  We got snacks and sat down on a bench behind the rest center.  As we were eating our Doritos, we heard a very loud, glass smashing, booming noise toward the interstate.  Jenny went to see whether someone had creamed our car, because I think that was the thing that we were both thinking that it sounded like.  She came back around the corner to say that a moving van had left the interstate and smashed into a ditch.  I called 911 and talked to some guy, then talked to some lady, and I think a sheriff showed up because he had seen it, not because he been dispatched.  There were three guys that got out of the cab of the truck and only the driver seemed shaken up.  I think everyone was okay and it was pretty amazing seeing the path that the truck followed on the way back onto the interstate from the rest area.  They left the interstate, went down into the ditch in front of the rest area that was deep enough so that you probably would have lost sight of it from the rest center, it slammed into the other side of the ditch.  There it caught air, flew over the on ramp, and landed in another ditch on the other side.  Scary.  We consider ourselves doubly protected and very much in the watchful providence of God.

The rest of the weekend has been dull in comparison.  I guess that is what you want in a vacation.  I must have caught 10-15 speckled trout but only one keeper.  I guess all things considered I'd much rather clean one fish than a "mess" of fish.  Maybe thats where the term "mess" comes from.  I burnt my face even though I was wearing a hat and still haven't gotten over that.  At 11 we took a break from fishing and went to shore to pick the girls, Jenny, and Grammy up to go out to the sandbar.  We all had fun and a bite for lunch.  When I say sandbar, the sandbar is about a mile out and in a foot of water.  I was surprised that Emma and Kate enjoyed themselves but they did. A lot.  We are still talking about it.  Kate especially will add it to the list of things that she likes that she goes over in the car.  "Grammy and Pappy's...  Drive in the Mountains...  Ride in a boat..."

We went to Calvary today and Jenny enjoyed visiting old church family and church family enjoyed seeing the girls.  We leave tomorrow for Columbia... for our own beds....
